The short version

30-second read
  • Running is easier, flinching is faster. Run counter-clockwise with stamina potions, or bait an attack and step out on his three-tick cycle.
  • Open with an elder maul or dragon warhammer. The first special from either always lands on Tekton, then follow with a Bandos godsword.
  • Lure him away before he heads to the anvil. Anyone under him on the walk back takes rapid stomp damage.
  • Keep someone in range when he scans. An empty range sends him back to the anvil early and costs your team hits.

Tekton OSRS: How the Room Works

Tekton is the melee-only combat room in the Chambers of Xeric: a 300 hitpoint giant with a hammer who hits up to 52, or 59 when enraged. He is immune to ranged and takes 80% less damage from magic, so this room is melee. The standard Tekton strategy is to avoid his hits by moving, either by running around him or by flinching: bait an attack, step out of range before it lands, then hit him.

After 10 to 14 attacks, or when nobody is in range as he scans, he walks back to his anvil to repair himself. The anvil trips are where sparks fly and where the room drags on, and killing him before his second trip is the Anvil No More Combat Achievement.

Tekton Strategy: Running vs Flinching

Tekton hits the area in front of him and to his right at the same time, on a three-tick cycle, and his attacks land with a short delay. The wiki describes two ways to use that delay.

Running: run counter-clockwise around him every time he faces you. It is the easier one to learn and it burns a lot of run energy, so bring stamina potions.

Flinching: bait him into starting an attack, then walk out of range before it registers, and hit him in the gap. It is faster and costs nothing, but you have to count his three-tick cycle. A metronome plugin helps while you learn it.

03

The Anvil Phase

After 10 to 14 attacks, or if nobody is in range when he scans, Tekton returns to the anvil. Anyone still standing under him as he walks back takes rapid stomp damage, so lure him as far from the anvil as you can before then and step clear when he turns.

At the anvil he repairs roughly 1.11% to 1.33% of his health at a time, and the lava throws two sparks at every player in the room. Each spark hits a 3x3 area for 10 to 20 damage, including splash from sparks aimed at someone else. Move two tiles as they fly and they miss.

After up to five sets of sparks he stops repairing and comes back enraged, with higher melee defence bonuses and a 59 max hit. The enrage wears off after about five attacks. Since the 29 November 2023 update he no longer resets his Defence when he heals at the anvil.

04

Anvil No More (Combat Achievement)

Anvil No More is a Master tier Combat Achievement worth 5 points. The task is to kill Tekton before he returns to his anvil for a second time after the fight begins.

The wiki's advice is to open with Defence drains from a dragon warhammer or Bandos godsword, then hit with crush, since crush is his weakest style. The elder maul and inquisitor's mace are the top picks, with the Zamorakian hasta or dragon hunter lance as backups, and inquisitor's armour adds crush accuracy and damage. Do not force an early anvil trip by leaving him with nobody in range when he scans; every early return costs your team hits.

Three changes help. The first elder maul or dragon warhammer special that connects with Tekton always lands (the warhammer guarantee was added on 29 November 2023). Since 6 April 2017 a missed warhammer special still drains 5% of his Defence, and the wiki says the same of a missed maul special. Since 13 April 2017 a missed Bandos godsword special drains 10 Defence levels. If two hammer or maul specials land on the same tick, only one gets the guaranteed hit.

Tekton's other Master task is Blind Spot: kill him without taking any damage. You do not need kill credit, so the wiki suggests a partner tanks and does most of the damage while you land one hit. Run or flinch through his swings, dodge the anvil sparks, and lure him to the middle of the room, away from the smoke pillars, which deal 1 to 3 damage if you step on them and fail the task. You also have to be in the room for the whole fight, so walking in through his fire late fails it.

Best Gear for Tekton

WeaponNote
Scythe of viturCrush with inquisitor's armour, otherwise slash with a Bellator ring
Inquisitor's maceCrush, his lowest defence at +105
Osmumten's fang or noxious halberdStab into +155; the fang rolls accuracy twice
Elder maulCrush, and its first special on Tekton always lands
Dragon hunter lance or Zamorakian hasta+85 stab and +65 crush; the crush style goes into his lowest defence, +105
Abyssal tentacleLast on the wiki's list: slash into his highest defence, +165

For specials, bring a dragon warhammer or elder maul and a Bandos godsword. The godsword can drain more but is not guaranteed to hit, so the wiki says to use it after the first hammer or maul lands. Ranged and magic weapons stay in the bank: he is immune to ranged, and the 20% water weakness does not make up for an 80% magic damage cut.

06

Inventory and Supplies

  • Stamina potions if you are using the running method.
  • Defence-drain specials: dragon warhammer or elder maul first, then Bandos godsword.
  • Food sized for 52s, and for 59s once he enrages.
  • Prayer potions. Every attack he has is melee.

Where Tekton Fits in a Raid

Tekton is one of the combat rooms a Chambers of Xeric raid can roll, next to Muttadiles and Vanguards, with the Great Olm waiting at the end of every raid. Your melee setup decides this room, because nothing else does real damage to him.

09

Fight Strategy Step by Step

  1. 1

Pick running or flinching before he reaches you.

  2. 2

    Drain first:

dragon warhammer or elder maul, then Bandos godsword.

  3. 3

    Hit with crush.

His crush defence is the lowest of the three.

  4. 4

Before he heads back, drag him away from the anvil and do not stand under him on the walk.

  5. 5

At the anvil, move two tiles every time sparks fly.

  6. 6

    Respect the enrage:

a 59 max hit and higher defence for about five attacks.

10

Drops and Points

Tekton always drops five stinkhorn mushrooms, two overload (+)(4), a prayer enhance (+)(4) and a revitalisation (+)(4), plus a rare onyx.

11

Ironman Notes

This room is melee or nothing, which hurts ironmen without raid weapons. After the lance and hasta, the wiki's list ends with the abyssal tentacle, made from a Kraken tentacle and an abyssal whip, so no raid unique is needed. The first elder maul or dragon warhammer special always lands on Tekton, so the opening Defence drain is reliable even with low accuracy.

12

Common Mistakes and Death Causes

  • Standing under him as he walks back to the anvil. The stomps are rapid.
  • Bringing ranged or magic. He is immune to ranged and takes 80% less magic.
  • Standing still when sparks fly. Two tiles of movement is enough.
  • Leaving nobody in range when he scans, which sends him to the anvil early.
  • Trading hits with an enraged Tekton at a 59 max hit.

FAQ

What is the best Tekton strategy?

Avoid his hits by moving. Run counter-clockwise when he faces you, or flinch: bait an attack, step out of range, then hit. Drain his Defence with a dragon warhammer or elder maul, then a Bandos godsword, then use crush.

How do you complete Anvil No More?

Kill Tekton before he goes back to his anvil for a second time. Open with Defence drains, use crush (elder maul or inquisitor's mace), and keep someone in range so he does not walk back early.

Can you range or mage Tekton?

No. He is immune to ranged and takes 80% less damage from magic, even with his 20% water weakness.

How hard does Tekton hit?

Up to 52, or 59 when enraged. In Challenge Mode it is 78 and 87. His anvil sparks hit for 10 to 20 in a 3x3 area.

When does Tekton go to the anvil?

After 10 to 14 attacks, or if nobody is in range when he scans. He repairs at the anvil and throws two sparks per player each set.

What is Tekton weak to?

Crush, with +105 crush defence against +155 stab and +165 slash. He also has a 20% water weakness, but magic is cut by 80% so it barely matters.

14 · Bottom line

Bottom Line

Tekton rewards a clean melee loop: drain, crush, step out of his hits, keep him off the anvil. Once flinching is automatic, the room is short and Anvil No More becomes a realistic target.
