The short version
30-second read- Take your break between waves 67 and 68. Logging out holds wave 68 until you return, so restore prayer and Hitpoints fully first.
- Tag every healer with ranged or barrage. A tagged healer comes to you and stops healing, and Blood Barrage on a group heals you without a brew.
- Range the Jads and keep barrage for healers. The wiki rates Jad as very resistant to magic, and a twisted bow is the top weapon.
- Practise at TzHaar-Ket-Rak's Challenges first. Before your first cape only challenges 1 and 2 are open, so drill two Jads there.
Triple Jads at a Glance (Inferno Wave 68)
Triple Jads is wave 68 of the Inferno, the wave right before TzKal-Zuk. Three JalTok-Jads spawn in a triangle around the centre of the arena. Each attacks every 9 ticks instead of the usual 8, and the second and third start 3 ticks after the first, so an attack lands every 3 ticks and you get 3 ticks to read each one. The strategy is to pray first and attack second: an unprotected hit of up to 113 kills anyone not boosted above 113 Hitpoints.
To make up for that, each Jad only calls three healers at half health instead of the five you meet on wave 67. There are also no pillars left to hide behind, because any that survived wave 66 collapse before the Jad waves start.
| Field | Detail |
|---|---|
| Wave | 68 of 69 (wave 67 is a single Jad, wave 69 is TzKal-Zuk) |
| Monsters | Three JalTok-Jads, combat level 900, 350 hitpoints each |
| Max hit | 113 (ranged, magic or melee) |
| Attack speed on wave 68 | 9 ticks (5.4 seconds), staggered 3 ticks apart |
| Healers | Three Yt-HurKot per Jad, summoned at half health |
| Weakness | 40% extra damage from water spells (added 25 June 2025); Magic level 510 |
| Access | Clear waves 1 to 67 in the same run; first Inferno entry costs a fire cape |
Reading Jad's Attacks
JalTok-Jad uses the same animations as TzTok-Jad from the Fight Caves, with higher stats. Each attack is fully blocked by the matching protection prayer if it is on before the hit lands.
| Attack | What you see | Prayer |
|---|---|---|
| Magic | Rises on its hind legs and breathes a fire spell from its mouth. The sound plays as soon as the animation starts. | Protect from Magic |
| Ranged | Rises on its hind legs only briefly, then slams the ground and a boulder falls on you. The sound plays when you should already be praying. | Protect from Missiles |
| Melee | A head bash, only if you are standing next to it, and every 4 ticks instead of 8. | Protect from Melee, turned on before the hit. Better still, never stand next to a Jad. |
Turn game sounds on. With three Jads, the magic sound at the start of the animation is the fastest cue you get, and anything without it is a ranged attack.
Prayer Strategy: The Three-Tick Rhythm
Because the three Jads attack 3 ticks apart on a 9-tick cycle, wave 68 is one attack every 3 ticks, rotating between Jads. You are never watching all three at once, only the next one in the rotation.
- 1
Before the wave, restore prayer and Hitpoints fully.
If you need a break, log out between waves 67 and 68: the next wave will not start until you log back in.
- 2
As the Jads spawn, move to where you can attack at range and none of them can reach you in melee.
- 3
Identify the Jad that will attack first, then the second and third.
Pray against each one's animation as its turn comes.
- 4
Attack only in the gaps.
The wiki's advice for this wave is to focus on praying, not attacking.
- 5
Pick one Jad and keep your damage on it.
Every Jad you kill removes an attack from the cycle, so the wave gets easier with each kill.
- 6
When a Jad reaches half health, tag its three healers so they stop healing, then go straight back to the rhythm.
- 7
Keep prayer points high the whole wave.
Use hotkeys to swap between the inventory and prayer tabs so drinking a restore never costs you a switch.
Keep your Hitpoints above 113 with Saradomin brews if you can. JalTok-Jad can kill in one hit if your health is not boosted by a brew or an anglerfish, so the boost turns one missed prayer from a dead run into a recoverable mistake.
Healers on Wave 68
Each Jad calls three Yt-HurKot when it drops to half health, so the wave can put up to nine healers on the floor. Inferno healers are level 141 with 90 hitpoints and hit up to 18 with melee. They heal their Jad until something attacks them.
- Tag every healer with your ranged weapon or a barrage spell so it comes to you and stops healing.
- Do not let healers pull your attention off the prayer rhythm. A healer hit is 18 at most; a Jad hit is 113.
- Line them up so only one can attack you at a time.
- If you need health, Blood Barrage on a group of healers heals you without spending a brew.
- A riskier trick from the wiki is tagging the healers and running through a Jad between its attacks, which leaves them stuck behind it. Pray melee while you pass.
Gear and Supplies for the Jad Waves
A twisted bow is the most effective weapon against JalTok-Jad, followed by a bow of Faerdhinen and then a toxic blowpipe. The wiki rates Jad as very resistant to magic (it has a 510 Magic level), so keep your barrage runes for the healers.
- Saradomin brews to stay above 113 Hitpoints, and super restores to keep prayer high.
- A ranging potion or divine ranging potion before wave 67.
- Barrage runes for tagging and healing off healers.
- Enough ammunition left after waves 1 to 66, because there is no restock before Zuk.
The full Inferno setup and supply plan is in the Inferno strategy guide. If you want the cape without learning waves 1 to 69 yourself, an infernal cape service is the other route.
How to Practise Triple Jads
TzHaar-Ket-Rak's Challenges, in the inner area of Mor Ul Rek, is the practice tool. Challenge 1 is one JalTok-Jad, challenge 2 is two, and so on up to six. The first two are open to anyone who can enter the inner city with a fire cape; challenges 3 to 6 need an Inferno completion.
That means before your first cape you can practise at most two Jads at once. Use challenge 2 to drill reading the animations and tagging healers, then treat wave 67's single Jad as your warm-up for 68. Each challenge pays tokkul, from 80 for the first to 7,430 for the sixth, and finishing all six unlocks the JalRek-Jad look for the TzRek-Jad pet.
Common Mistakes and Death Causes
- Attacking through the rotation instead of praying first.
- Standing next to a Jad, which adds a 4-tick melee attack with no warning.
- Going into wave 68 with low prayer and drinking restores mid-rotation.
- Sitting at 113 Hitpoints or less, where one missed prayer against a 113 max hit can end the run.
- Leaving healers untagged so a Jad heals back up and the wave drags on.
- Splitting damage across all three Jads instead of finishing one.
Combat Achievements
Two TzKal-Zuk tasks hinge on this wave. Playing with Jads (grandmaster) asks you to complete wave 68 within 30 seconds of the first JalTok-Jad dying, which means getting all three low before finishing any. No Luck Required (grandmaster) means killing Zuk without being attacked by him and without taking damage from a JalTok-Jad, so every Jad prayer in the run has to be right.
The full Combat Achievement picture is in the Combat Achievements guide.
FAQ
What wave is triple Jads?
Wave 68. Wave 67 is a single Jad and wave 69 is TzKal-Zuk, who also spawns one more Jad when he drops to 480 hitpoints.
How far apart do the three Jads attack?
Three ticks. Each Jad attacks every 9 ticks on this wave, and the second and third are offset by 3 ticks from the first, so one attack lands every 3 ticks.
Can I safespot triple Jads behind a pillar?
No. Any pillars still standing collapse at the end of wave 66, so waves 67 to 69 are fought in the open.
How many healers spawn on wave 68?
Three per Jad, so up to nine in total, each called when its Jad drops to half health.
Where can I practise triple Jads?
At TzHaar-Ket-Rak's Challenges in Mor Ul Rek. Before your first Inferno completion you are limited to two Jads at once; challenges with three or more unlock after you beat Zuk.
Do I lose my items if I die on wave 68?
No. The Inferno is a safe minigame, so you keep your gear, but the run restarts from wave 1.

Bottom Line
Triple Jads is one Jad attack every three ticks for as long as the wave lasts. Pray first, attack in the gaps, kill one Jad at a time, tag every healer, and keep your Hitpoints above 113 when you can.
Practise the animations on the Fight Caves Jad and TzHaar-Ket-Rak's second challenge before you take a full run to wave 68. Otherwise the bosses list has the rest of the index.
