Penance Queen OSRS: Omega Eggs, 1/1,000 Pet and Torso Cost

Overview: Penance Queen at a Glance

The Penance Queen is the boss of Barbarian Assault and spawns in wave 10. Weapons and spells do nothing to her. She only takes damage from omega eggs, which your team builds together and fires from the egg launcher, and 8 egg hits kill her.

She has no drop table. A kill pays 80 honour points in the role you played and 5 in each of the other three, and it adds one Queen kill to your record. That stored kill is what you spend on the fighter torso, the Penance hats and skirt, the granite body, or a high gamble for the pet.

Most players come for the fighter torso, which costs 375 honour points in each of the four roles plus one Queen kill. If you would rather not find a team and grind the points, a Barbarian Assault service can get the Queen kill or the torso done on your account.

Access Requirements

Barbarian Assault has no skill or quest requirements. You need to have done Captain Cain's tutorial once to reach the waiting room, although it can be skipped, and you need a full team of five. The ten waves are played in order, so the Queen only shows up after your team clears waves 1 to 9 in the same run.

If anyone dies or leaves partway through a wave, the whole team restarts that wave. The boss requirements checklist has the gates for every other boss.

Location and How to Get There

Barbarian Assault is played in the basement of the Barbarian Outpost, just north of Baxtorian Falls. A games necklace is the quickest way there, and once you have done or skipped the tutorial the Minigame Teleport drops you at the door on a 20 minute cooldown. The official worlds are 306 (United States, west) and 310 (United Kingdom).

Inside the run, she spawns in wave 10 once every other monster is dead: 25 ticks after the last kill, or four minutes into the wave, whichever comes first. She climbs out of a trapdoor in the middle of an arena that has one egg launcher instead of the usual two.

Mechanics: Attack Styles, Max Hits and Immunities

Because the ranged hit lands on everyone, damage stacks up fast if the team is slow. The Healer role can heal other players, and the quickest way to stop taking damage is to finish the eggs and kill her.

Fight Strategy: Making Omega Eggs (CHAD(C))

The Queen drops a yellow egg every six seconds. Each yellow egg goes through four players in a fixed order before it becomes an omega egg, which players remember as CHAD(C):

   Collector picks up yellow eggs and hands them to the Healer.

   Healer dips the eggs in a poison crater and passes them to the Attacker.

   Attacker attaches spikes from a petrified mushroom and passes them to the Defender.

   Defender dips the eggs in a lava crater and gives them back to the Collector.

5. 5

   Collector loads the omega eggs into the egg hopper.

   Once every Penance fighter, ranger, healer and runner is dead, anyone on the team can fire the eggs from the egg launcher. Eight hits kill her.

Wave 10 has no point penalties for wrong calls, but the fighters, rangers, healers and runners still only die to the correct calls. Clear them first, then put everyone on eggs.

Inventory and Supplies

• Runes and ammunition are provided inside the game and you cannot bring your own.
• Most healing consumables are not allowed in, so plan around the Healer role rather than your own food.
• Prayers are disabled, so prayer potions are dead weight.
• Ultimate Ironmen cannot bring a looting bag or rune pouch in, even empty.
• Arrows dropped under the outpost or inside the waves are deleted with no warning.
• It is a safe activity: dying costs no items, only a restart of the wave.

Rewards: Fighter Torso, Penance Gloves and Honour Points

Nothing comes off the Queen herself. Every Barbarian Assault reward is bought from Commander Connad on the main floor of the Barbarian Outpost, using honour points from each role and, for some items, a stored Queen kill. Spent Queen kills are used up, and you can store up to 40.

A full Penance set (hat, gloves, boots, torso and skirt) costs 1,275 points in each role. Everything in the shop together is 2,100 points in each role, 95,000 coins and 7 Queen kills. Connad buys gear back for 80% of the points, but never refunds the Queen kill. Finishing the Hard Kandarin Diary adds 10% to the honour points you earn, rounded down.

Penance gloves

Penance gloves cost 150 honour points in each of the four roles and do not need a Queen kill. They need 40 Defence, give +3 slash, +4 crush and +2 ranged defence, and take 4.535 kg off your carried weight. That beats graceful gloves (3 kg), though penance gloves have no run energy bonus. The wiki lists them for weight-sensitive activities such as the Hallowed Sepulchre, Blast Furnace and Guardians of the Rift.

Pet Penance Queen and High Gambles

The Pet Penance Queen comes from high gambles at Commander Connad, not from the kill. Each high gamble has a 1 in 1,000 chance of the pet, rolled on top of the normal gamble loot. A high gamble costs 500 honour points from one role of your choice plus one stored Queen kill.

At 1/1,000 the average is 1,000 high gambles, which works out to 500,000 honour points and 1,000 Queen kills. Points cap at 5,000 per role and Queen kills at 40, so pet hunters gamble in batches as they play. High gambles also roll an elite clue scroll at 1/15, or 1/14 once you unlock the elite Combat Achievements reward tier. The pet was added on 14 August 2014. Ironman Notes

Honour points and every Barbarian Assault reward are untradeable, so an ironman earns the torso the same way as a main. The hard part is the team: you need four other players, and one death or leaver restarts the wave.

Barbarian Assault is a safe activity, but a death still costs a Hardcore Group Ironman team one of its lives. Ultimate Ironmen should bank their looting bag and rune pouch before going down, because neither is allowed in.

Common Mistakes and Death Causes

• Putting everyone on eggs while Penance fighters, rangers, healers or runners are still alive. The launcher won't fire at her until all of them are dead.
• Breaking the CHAD(C) order. Each egg has to go Collector, Healer, Attacker, Defender, then back to the Collector for the hopper.
• Standing next to her. Her melee only hits players who come close, and there is no reason to.
• Leaving queen spawns alive. Anyone can kill them with any style, and there can be four at once.
• Spending your only stored Queen kill on a high gamble when you still need the torso, hat or skirt.
• Disconnecting or leaving mid-wave, which sends all five players back to the start of wave 10.
