The short version
30-second read- Protect from Magic only removes a third. Its magic attacks hit up to 65, so eat before you need to.
- Stay out from under Corp and away from cores. The stomp hits 30 to 51 through prayer, and cores drain 5 to 13 every 2 ticks while healing it.
- Switch to a noxious halberd below about 70 Defence. The fang wins while its Defence is high, but the halberd on stab pulls ahead once drained.
- Keep attacking once its Defence is drained. Corp heals 25 every 7 ticks and fully resets after three minutes without an attack.
Overview: Corporeal Beast at a Glance
The Corporeal Beast is a combat level 785 boss with 2,000 hitpoints, and in Old School it has no quest or skill requirement: teleport to its cave with a games necklace and walk in. One rule shapes every setup for it. Corp takes 50% less damage from any melee or ranged weapon unless it is a Corpbane weapon, meaning a spear, a halberd or Osmumten's fang, used on the stab style. Magic is never halved.
It attacks mostly with magic for up to 65, and Protect from Magic only cuts that by 33%, so you take real damage even when you pray correctly. Players come for the spirit shield at 1/64, the holy elixir, and the three sigils, which roll at 1/585 between them. Only the player who deals the most damage gets the loot.
That loot rule is why plenty of players do Corp solo or as a duo, and why teams agree a split before the first kill. The fight itself is simple. The work is in draining its Defence first and staying off the dark energy core.

Requirements and How to Get There
There is no quest requirement. Guides that list Summer's End are describing the original RuneScape version, which needed it; the Old School Corp never has.
- Use a games necklace and pick the Corporeal Beast teleport. Walking in means crossing the Wilderness past hostile ents and black unicorns.
- The lair itself is not part of the Wilderness, even though the cave entrance is.
- Groups can pay 200,000 coins at the private portal for their own instance. Ironmen cannot use it.
- Ironmen with a combat level of 90 or higher get their own separate Corp room.
- Pets cannot follow you into the lair.
The boss requirements checklist lists the gates for every other boss by group.
Recommended Stats and Gear
| Setup | Stats |
|---|---|
| Melee | 94 Attack, 94 Strength, 94 Defence, 85+ Hitpoints, 70 Prayer for Piety |
| Ranged | 90 Ranged, 90 Hitpoints, 74 Prayer for Rigour |
Pick your weapon by the damage rule, not by its normal ranking. Osmumten's fang, a noxious halberd on stab, a Zamorakian spear or a dragon spear all hit Corp at full damage. The fang is the best of them while Corp's Defence is high, but once you have drained it below about 70 the noxious halberd pulls ahead. A scythe, a godsword or a twisted bow loses half its damage here, so leave them in the bank.
| Check | Value |
|---|---|
| Prayers for its attacks | Protect from Magic for most of the fight; it only reduces magic damage by 33% |
| Defence level | 310 |
| Magic level | 350 |
| Melee defence | Stab +25, slash +200, crush +100 |
| Ranged defence | +230 light and standard, +100 heavy |
| Magic defence | +150, with a 10% weakness to earth spells |
| Immune to | Poison and venom. Not immune to cannons or thralls |
Spec Order: Draining Its Defence
Corp has 310 Defence, so the kill gets much faster once you drain it. The specs the wiki uses are:
- 1
Elder maul
: lowers its current Defence by 35% on a hit. A dragon warhammer is the cheaper alternative.
- 2
Bandos godsword
: drains stats by the damage dealt, Defence first, then Strength, Prayer, Attack, Magic and Ranged.
- 3
Arclight and Emberlight
: each successful hit lowers Attack, Strength and Defence by 5% of the base level plus 1. Emberlight costs 50% special energy.
The wiki's solo drain is three elder maul specs, then 19 Emberlight specs, then 200 damage worth of Bandos godsword specs. Teams of three to seven usually land three elder maul specs and then kill it. Corp heals 25 hitpoints every 7 ticks while nobody is fighting it and fully heals if no one attacks it for three minutes, so do not leave it alone for long between drains.
Mechanics: Attacks, the Core and the Stomp
| Mechanic | What it does | Your answer |
|---|---|---|
| Magic attacks | Most of its attacks, up to 65 | Keep Protect from Magic on. It only removes a third of the damage, so eat early |
| Melee | Crush for up to 33 | Expect it at close range and keep your health high |
| Stomp | If you stand under Corp it may stomp for 30 to 51. It checks every 7 ticks and prayer does not stop it | Never stand underneath it |
| Dark energy core | 1/8 chance to spawn whenever Corp is hit for 32 or more, and it can also spawn when Corp attacks below 1,000 hitpoints. It drains 5 to 13 from adjacent players every 2 ticks and heals Corp | Step away from it. Poison weakens it, and melee can kill it |
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Combat level | 785 |
| Attack styles | Crush, Magic |
| Attack speed | 4 ticks |
| Attacks on sight | Yes |
| Poisons you | No |
| Size | 5x5 |
| Immune to cannon | No |
| Immune to thralls | No |
Solo, Duo or Team
Because the top damage dealer takes the whole drop, team size is a loot decision as much as a speed one. The wiki groups the methods like this:
- 1
Solo and duo
: stat draining, quick-pooling, death piling, quick-banking, soloing with an alt, and straight melee.
- 2
Three to seven players
: a team melee setup with three elder maul specs before the kill.
- 3
Mass
: melee, with the drop going to whoever tops the damage.
In anything bigger than a duo, agree before the first kill whether drops are split or kept by whoever gets them.
Where Corporeal Beast Sits in Progression
Within the standalone boss group, the fights below Corporeal Beast are Dagannoth Supreme and The Royal Titans (Branda & Eldric). Above it sit Phosani's Nightmare and Yama.
Drops and Drop Rates
| Drop | Rate |
|---|---|
| Spirit shield | 8/512 (1/64) |
| Holy elixir | 3/512 (about 1/171) |
| Any sigil | 1/585 |
| Arcane sigil | 1/1,365 |
| Spectral sigil | 1/1,365 |
| Elysian sigil | 1/4,095 |
| Onyx bolts (e) x175 | 20/512 |
| Jar of spirits | 1/1,000 |
| Pet dark core | 1/5,000 |
The sigils are the reason the grind is long. Even the common two are 1/1,365 each, and the elysian is three times rarer. Remember the rates are per kill for the top damage dealer, not for everyone in the room.
Combat Achievements
Corp has five Combat Achievement tasks worth 21 points. Four are Elite: Chicken Killer (a solo kill), Hot on Your Feet (nobody kills the dark energy core or takes damage from it), Corporeal Beast Veteran (25 kills) and Finding the Weak Spot (finish it with a halberd special). Corporeal Beast Master is 50 kills.
Task lists move with updates, so read the current list in game. Our Combat Achievements guide covers how to plan tiers.
Ironman Notes
Ironmen with 90 or more combat get their own Corp room, so you are not competing with main accounts for the kill. You cannot buy the 200,000-coin private instance, though, and every sigil has to come from your own kills at 1/585 for any of the three.
Common Mistakes and Death Causes
- Bringing a slash or crush weapon, or a bow, and doing half damage. Stab with a spear, halberd or Osmumten's fang.
- Standing under Corp. The stomp hits for 30 to 51 and prayer does nothing against it.
- Fighting next to a dark energy core, which drains 5 to 13 every 2 ticks and heals Corp.
- Treating Protect from Magic as a full block. It only removes 33%, so eat before you need to.
- Leaving Corp alone after draining it. It heals 25 every 7 ticks and fully resets after three minutes without an attack.
- Starting a team trip without agreeing on a split, when only the top damage dealer gets the drop.
FAQ
What are the requirements for Corporeal Beast in OSRS?
None. There is no quest or skill requirement in Old School. Summer's End is only required in the original RuneScape version. The wiki recommends 94 Attack, Strength and Defence for melee, or 90 Ranged and Hitpoints for ranged.
Why is my damage halved at Corp?
Corp takes 50% less damage from every melee and ranged weapon that is not a Corpbane weapon on stab. Spears, halberds and Osmumten's fang on stab hit for full damage, and magic is never reduced.
What is the best weapon for Corporeal Beast?
Osmumten's fang on stab while its Defence is high. Once you have drained it below about 70, a noxious halberd on stab hits harder. A Zamorakian spear or dragon spear is the cheaper option. Pair them with an elder maul or dragon warhammer, a Bandos godsword and an Arclight or Emberlight to drain its Defence.
How do I get to the Corporeal Beast?
Teleport with a games necklace to the Corporeal Beast. You can walk in through the Wilderness, but the route passes hostile ents and black unicorns.
What does Corporeal Beast drop?
The spirit shield at 1/64, the holy elixir at 3/512 and the arcane, spectral and elysian sigils at 1/1,365, 1/1,365 and 1/4,095. Only the top damage dealer gets the drop.
Can you solo Corp?
Yes. Solo players drain its Defence with three elder maul specs, Emberlight specs and Bandos godsword damage, then kill it with a Corpbane weapon. Some use an alt account or death piling to speed things up.

Bottom Line
Corp is a gear-check boss with one strange rule. Stab with a spear, halberd or Osmumten's fang, drain its Defence before you start the kill, stay out from under it and away from the core, and eat early because Protect from Magic only takes a third off.
If you want the kills or a sigil chase done without learning the drain routine, our Corporeal Beast service is done by hand, with no automation. Otherwise the bosses list has the full index.
